UPTA Fall Tennis Luncheon & Mimosa Bar!
On November 13, 2024, at Thornblade Country Club, we’ll be trading in our tennis skirts and rackets for brunch and bubbles! I’m thrilled to be sponsoring the mimosa bar at this year’s UPTA fall luncheon, and I’d love to see as many of you there as possible.
I don’t know about you, but I’m one of those people who adds just a tiny splash of OJ to my mimosa—sometimes it’s more of a garnish than an ingredient! You have to get it just the right shade or pale orange!! How do you like yours? Half and half? Or maybe with a twist—pineapple or cranberry juice, maybe? However you enjoy them, the mimosas will be the perfect complement to our lunch and the great conversations we’re sure to have.
After years of playing together, it’s always fun to catch up off the court. This luncheon is a chance to relax, chat, and celebrate the friendships we’ve built through tennis. Plus, who doesn’t love seeing everyone “cleaned up” and out of tennis clothes for a change?
Our fall brunch is also a special time to celebrate the Spring 2024 season with awards. I’m especially excited about my team’s win in the 3.0 division and our trip to the state championships! We competed in Aiken, and while we didn’t take home the trophy, we definitely took home the “fun” award! From changing rooms a few times to enjoying the pool with my now-famous Lavender Lemon Drop Martinis, crashing a wedding (and scoring some delicious homemade wedding cake), and exploring some great restaurants—we had a blast. Many other Upstate teams were also there, and I’m sure they had just as much fun with plenty of laughter, good times, and of course, some competitive tennis.
One of the things that makes these luncheons so special is seeing everyone—from 2.5 to 5.0 players—come together as friends. We might compete hard on the court, but when it’s all said and done, we all have a love for tennis and have a good time playing each other. It’s so refreshing to see everyone off the court in a different light.
So, let’s raise a glass (or two) and enjoy a well-deserved break. Whether you’re there for the mimosas, the awards, or just the good company, I guarantee it’ll be a great time!

We will have special guests from The Augustine Literacy Project of the Upstate sharing their story. Plus, we will have our annual pop-up shop from Emily Austin. Those ladies do such an amazing job providing an onsite shopping experience!!! You don’t want to miss the opportunity to get a little (or a lot) of holiday shopping done. There will be some fun and fabulous raffle items to choose from. Bring some extra cash for raffle tickets as well. Once again, we will be selling extra raffle tickets for $1.00 each. Stuff the bowl for your favorite raffle item! Seating is limited due to the room capacity. More details to follow ….
p.s. If anyone has any items that they would like to donate to our raffle table extravaganza, please let me know. I will get you in touch with the committee members that are organizing those items.
